What this is

89 ambience sounds across eight categories, all of them stackable - five are real field recordings (rain, sea, night forest, stream, campfire) and carry a "REC" tag. Tap a card to start it, tap again to stop; run several at once and you have a mix - rain underneath, campfire on top, each with its own volume. Pink noise to focus at work, rain on the window for a nap, keyboard clatter when you need something to cover the silence.

Most of these are not recordings: the browser computes them on the spot, so there is nothing to download, playback starts instantly and costs no data. A few (field rain, sea, night forest, stream, campfire) are real recordings, tagged "REC" and fetched only when you tap them. The light drifting across the background follows whatever is playing - rain makes it fall, campfire makes it rise, thunder makes it flash.

The trade-off, stated up front: the animal sounds - dog, wolf, whale - are built with formant synthesis. You can tell which animal it is and the mood reads right, but they will never be as lifelike as a recording. That is exactly why rain, sea, night forest, stream and campfire are real field recordings instead. If you want the most lifelike thing on the page, pick the cards tagged "REC".

How to use it

Headphones help. Keep the volume moderate and give your ears a break after an hour or two.
